Carlos’ Terriers lack bite but show fight

- By IAN MURTAGH

DOWN and out in midweek, Huddersfield’s luck was very much in as they bounced back from their Norwich horror show with a clean sheet.

But Rotherham must be wondering how they didn’t punish their relegation rivals in similar fashion to the Canaries who put seven past Carlos Corberan’s struggling side.

The visitors hit the woodwork twice, had a goal ruled out, a penalty appeal turned down and Lewis Wing was thwarted by both the post and keeper before Ben Wiles missed a sitter.

But Rotherham remain stuck in the drop zone ahead of a daunting schedule which sees them play another five times in the next fortnight.

Millers manager Paul Warne said: “Our performance was really good and it certainly didn’t feel like a boring goalless draw.

“Unfortunately, we could not get the goal we deserved.”

Rotherham should have broken the deadlock in the 24th minute. Wiles burst into the box and cut the ball back to Matt Crooks, who, under pressure from Richard Keogh, crashed his shot against the upright.

That let-off woke up Huddersfield who finished the opening period on top.

Rotherham’s luck was out nine minutes later when Naby Sarr had his arms all over Richard Wood but referee Lee Mason waved away their penalty appeals.

Terriers’ chief Carlos Corberan said: “After Norwich, we wanted a good performance and a good result.

“But we did not get either of them.

“We had to suffer a lot just to get a single point.”
