‘Wright babies will come along like buses!’

Former TOWIE star Jess Wright talks wedding plans, body battles and mum Carol’s desire for lots of grandkids

Like many brides-to-be, Jess Wright has spent months worrying about whether her wedding will go ahead. The former TOWIE star is set to marry businessman William Lee-Kemp, 37, in Majorca in June, but Jess tells us she’s unsure if the nuptials can happen amid unclear travel restrictions.

“I know as much as anyone does,” Jess says. “It’s just a case of waiting and seeing what happens.”

In the meantime, the 35-year-old has been keeping busy prepping the parts of the wedding she can control – even picking out her bridal lingerie from her new collaboration with Pour Moi.

It’s a welcome distraction for Jess, whose family has been hit hard by the pandemic. In January, Jess’s brother, Heart DJ Mark Wright, 34, revealed their father, Mark Snr, had been hospitalised with Covid-19 and that two of their uncles were also being treated in hospital for the virus.

Sadly, Jess’s uncle Eddie passed away last month after an eight-week fight. After such a tough time, Jess tells us the family are “getting there” when we offer our condolences.

Here, Jess talks about the importance of loved ones, her relationship with William and reveals the secrets to her enviable figure…

Hi Jess. How are you all doing?

Thank you. We’re getting there. It’s been a really rubbish few months. We’re just sticking together as a family and supporting each other.

Hopefully you’ll be able to see more of each other soon…

Yes, I’m just looking forward to hugging people. It’s soul-destroying that we haven’t been able to hug our loved ones for the last year.

Do you have any tips for others who are going through something similar?

Whenever I’m feeling down, I find selfhelp or motivating podcasts really good. I think putting on a film that makes you feel nostalgic for a happy time in your life can really help. I know we can’t be around people, but we should all try to Zoom the people we love.

At least work has been a distraction for you. Tell us about your Pour Moi lingerie collection…

It’s such a gorgeous collection. It’s a lovely brand and the stuff is so wearable for all shapes and sizes.

It includes a bridal lingerie set. that get you excited for your big day?

Yes! That was fun to work on. To even be thinking about bridal underwear was just so exciting.

Do

Does

you feel confident doing swimwear and lingerie photo shoots?

I wouldn’t say I feel overly confident. I’m always putting myself down on these shoots, thinking I look a bit big. But I got quite a lot of compliments on that shoot saying I looked toned and had lost weight. I have been trying really hard with a regime on my Peloton Bike and other home workouts like Train Wright. My partner and I love to ride our [road] bikes, too.

Have you got your wedding dress and all the other details sorted out?

I’m pretty much sorted. It’s just a case of seeing whether it can actually go ahead.

Has the past year brought you and closer?

William

We found our feet in the first lockdown. There were definitely ups and downs, as I’m sure there were with everyone being together so much. But we absolutely came through the other side. Lockdown confirmed to us that we were meant to be, because if we could survive that, we could survive anything!

You’ve said before that your mum Carol is desperate to be a grandma. Has she been dropping lots of hints to you and your siblings?

We’re all at the age where we’ll probably have children at some point soon and it will be amazing when we do. She always says they’ll no doubt come like buses with us lot. So it will be an interesting few years if and when that happens.
