PURRFECT Simba has found his forever home after the Daily Star Sunday’s appeal to help halt the homeless pet pandemic.
And two more animals featured in our campaign, Seamus and Saskia, have also been reserved by loving families.
Every week your Daily Star Sunday – Britain’s biggest animal-loving paper – has been featuring rescue centre animals needing new homes.
It came after shelters said they fear they will be inundated with thousands of pets as lockdown eases. Eight-year-old
Simba was adopted by a couple in Cheshire from RSPCA Manchester and Salford shortly after our latest appeal.
His new owners, who did not want to be named, said: “We’ve had him for just over two weeks now and he has settled in brilliantly.
“He’s very talkative, loves to be with you and would sit on your knee all day if you let him.
“He’s discovered lots of comfortable places to sleep around the house. Simba also loves watching the birds – and the neighbours – from a bedroom window and enjoys running around at midnight and playing with his toys.”
German shepherd Saskia and loving pooch Seamus have been reserved and will go to their new owners this month.
Shelters across the country have been inundated with animals who need a loving home. Dogs Trust says more than 40,000 pooches have been given up by families in the UK.
A spokesman for the RSPCA said: “It’s fantastic to see that Simba has found his
forever home and has settled in so well. Our staff have been working incredibly hard to rehome and foster animals under the lockdown guidance and are doing a fabulous job.”
The RSPCA is urging those thinking of getting a pet to ensure they will be able to take care of them once we all return to our normal routines, and to consider taking on a rescued animal.
The spokesman added: “We have rescued animals throughout the pandemic and have thousands currently in our care looking for homes.”
