BLAKE HEAVEN

-

it clear to the chairman that my focus is on the team.

“But he’s made it clear that he wants to speak about my future.”

ROBBIE BLAKE didn’t realise Sir Alex Ferguson was a member of his fan club – until he scored a wonder goal to beat Manchester United that Burnley fans still talk about.

It was August 2009 and Turf Moor was hosting its first top-flight game in 33 years when his volley scorched past Ben Foster in the United goal.

Blake – cutting his coaching teeth with Bognor Regis Town – said: “What made it even more special was what Sir Alex Ferguson said.

“In his press conference, he said he wasn’t surprised I’d scored a goal of that quality because I had made a career out of it. What a tribute that was from an absolute legend.”

RALPH HASENHUTTL reckons being a superstitious manager is a sign of “weakness”.

That’s why the Southampton boss will not be sporting any lucky pants, shirts or trainers when he leads his team out at Wembley tonight against Leicester.

Hasenhuttl said: “I try never to be superstitious because, for me, it’s a kind of weakness.

“When you think that you put your left shoe on and then the right shoe… if this is the key to winning or losing then I think you have not done everything right before the game.

“So I try more to concentrate on the facts and on the things I definitely want to improve.

“I expect a very tough game but the semi-final of the cup has its own rules. We have to run more, to fight more, to work more.”
