Johnson is full of hot air

THIS giant balloon doppelganger of Boris Johnson is a real gas.

Pranksters stationed the huge inflatable at Hartlepool Marina in County Durham.

The creators of the blimp, who call themselves The Wombles, say they hoped it would spread some joy among visitors.

The fun project has been funded by an anonymous business owner.

The 49-year-old said: “No matter what you think about him, Boris is a bit of a cartoon figure and everyone recognises him.”

BOZO the Clown is facing a major crisis after his former friend Dominic Cummings went nuclear.

The Prime Minister was last night facing growing pressure to explain how a £200,000 refurbishment of his Downing Street flat was paid for.

Axed chief advisor Knobo, right, claimed that Boris Johnson once had “possibly illegal” plans to get Tory donors to fund the work.

The Government said “costs of wider refurbishment in this year have been met by the Prime Minister personally”. But the Electoral Commission is probing whether cash used to fund the flat makeover should have been declared.

Bozo already faced a storm over lobbying after it was revealed he exchanged texts with tycoon Sir James Dyson about tax issues.

Cummings yesterday followed up his astonishing attack by implying ministers were too slow to shut the UK border during the pandemic.

He tweeted that it was a “very important issue re learning from the disaster”. Critics lined up to blast the PM. Tory former Attorney General Dominic Grieve said Johnson was “a vacuum of integrity”.

Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer said Bozo needed to fully disclose where the flat refurb cash came from, and whether it was a loan. Calling for an inquiry, he added: “Every day there’s more evidence of this sleaze and frankly it stinks.” Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said the “stench of sleaze” around the UK Government was “becoming quite overpowering”. She also called for an inquiry into allegations of “contracts for cronies, donations for decorating and text messages for tax breaks”. Last night, bookies made it oddson that Johnson will not be Tory leader at the next General Election. Coral saw a surge in bets on him losing the party leadership.
