WHERE’S IT GONG?

Our awards for Best Hiding Place...

-

IT’S the Oscars tonight and the world’s top movie talents are on tenterhooks waiting to see if they have won.

But what happens to those famous statuettes after the party is over, not to mention all the other trophies bagged by the stars? Some celebrities keep their gongs in rather unusual places, as JAMES MOORE reveals…

Flushed with success: Lots

of stars keep their awards in the loo or bathroom, including Grammy and BRIT-winner Adele, and Golden Globe victor Claire Foy, as well as Oscar winners Kate Winslet, Emma Thompson and Jodie Foster – who says hers looks “good with the faucets”.

Smalls wonder: After

Kevin Costner won a 1991 Best Director Oscar for his movie Dances With Wolves, he kept it in his underwear drawer for years in case it got stolen. Similarly, rapper Kanye West keeps his Grammys in his sock drawer.

Down to earth: Actress

Rosamund Pike, who picked up a Golden Globe for her role in the film I Care A Lot, finds it “awkward” to display her awards.

She instead buries them “in the garden with a little bit showing up, so you can have a glimpse of a hand or maybe a crown or the globe”.

Clucking brilliant: When

Gladiator star Russell Crowe plucked his Academy Award for Best Actor in Gladiator back in 2001, he made a new home for his Oscar in the chicken coop on his ranch in Australia. He said it helped the hens “lay bigger eggs”.

Chill thrill: Having won

Best Actor for his role in the 1977 movie The Goodbye Girl,

Richard Dreyfuss coolly put his

Oscar in the fridge. He explained: “It is there because I didn’t want to brag… he’s tall, so I had to change the shelves around.”

Shoe in: After winning an

Oscar aged 11 for her part in The Piano, Anna Paquin revealed: “I keep it next to my boots at the back of my closet.” TV’s James Corden stores his awards in a cupboard.

Bagged it: Slumdog

Millionaire director Danny Boyle keeps his Oscar in a shoe bag under his bed, while fellow Briton Olivia Colman likes to keep her Oscar for The Favourite between the sheets.

Lunch legends: Wallace

And Gromit creator Nick Park – a four-time Academy Award winner – keeps his trophies in the canteen at his company Aardman Animations.

He said: “The Oscars are for everyone, not just me.”
