Lethal hitman’s still Arm-ed and deadly
HAT-TRICK hero Adam Armstrong dazzled as five-star Blackburn put the toothless Terriers to the sword.
Rovers’ leading marksman, with 24 league goals, might be on his way out of Ewood Park come the end of a frustrating season for the club.
But the ambitious hitman showed his class with three fine goals against hapless Huddersfield.
And he could have had more in a comprehensive win which embarrassed the struggling visitors.
Rovers boss Tony Mowbray said: “It was important to get a win.
“It’s been tough this season, we’ve missed a crowd this season – but we got our rewards for our efforts.”
Armstrong and Ben Brereton put the home side two ahead within the first 22 minutes.
However, defender Ryan Nyambe scored an unfortunate own goal to give the Terriers hope on the stroke of half-time.
But any chance of a courageous comeback was extinguished as Armstrong bagged a second goal nine minutes after the break.
And three minutes later Sam Gallagher scored to put the contest out of reach.
Armstrong completed a stunning afternoon at the office with his third on the hour mark.
And he could have had a fourth if not for a fine fingertip save from keeper Ryan Schofield.
Josh Koroma bagged a consolation with eight minutes remaining but it was too little, too late for the Terriers.
Under-fire manager Carlos Corberan said: “We made mistakes.
“I am responsible and I must improve. I understand everyone will blame me.”
