TRY TO GET OVER EURO FINAL

-

BAND

DON Broco had to release an album to get over the negativity of the Euro 2020 final.

The band’s excellent fourth LP Amazing Things, out now, tackles big subjects such as the abuse England players received after losing to Italy.

Frontman Rob Damiani said: “On the internet it’s the racist words that come up the most, especially when you talk about football.

“I felt like we had unleashed a monster. The contrast with being finalists for the first time in years and what happened at the end was really ugly. I don’t put all in fans in the same basket, but it’s really desperate for the country and world in general.”

Don Broco address some of those issues in their song Super Reds No1 Fan, which comes with a video that has a David Beckham clone.

Rob said: “A lot of people seem hungry for this kind of negativity in the media or on social networks.

“It’s almost become a need and that’s what

Super Reds No1 Fan is all about. People like to argue, or shout, or even want to fight until they tear each other apart. And again, it’s all the more true when we talk about football.”

Music certainly helped the Bedford rockers channel these issues during the pandemic.

Rob added: “I just think we could do more to make the world a better place. The last year has been sad enough.

“This is why I try to cover these topics in Amazing Things and I can guarantee you that after a year without concerts, I had time to think about it.”

Don Broco kick off their UK tour in Newcastle on October 25.
