Ultimate style icons.. are they Only Fools?

- By DAVID JARVIS sunday@dailystar.co.uk

ONLY Fools And Horses legends Del Boy and Rodney have been named fashion icons by a style bible.

It said Del’s sheepskin coats and Rodney’s camouflage Army jackets are lovely jubbly when it comes to modern style

GQ magazine’s fashion gurus said the classic 1980s

BBC sitcom was ahead of its time.

And they reckon anyone not taking style tips from Del and Rodders is a total “plonker”.

They even think

Trigger’s jackets are now a fashion

“must” and claim that Uncle Albert’s jumpers are just cushty.

The mag advised readers to invest in a classic sheepskin overcoat like Del used to wear, saying Del Boy knew “where it was at when it came to outerwear” and that it “would form a centrepiece of your winter wardrobe”.

And it said Rodney’s camo field jackets were the ultimate in modern style, adding: “Rodney Trotter was rarely seen out of his trademark camo field jacket and neither should you be.”

Even Trigger’s checked jackets came in for praise.

And of uncle Albert’s jumpers, the magazine added: “We’ve been banging on about sweater vests for a while now and no-one wore the style better than Uncle Albert. Team yours with a duffle coat and baker boy hat for full vintage effect.”

Only Fools And Horses, starring Sir David Jason as Peckham wheeler dealer Del Boy Trotter and Nicholas Lyndhurst as his brother Rodney, ran from 1981 to 1991.

Also starring the late Roger Lloyd-Pack as the slow-witted Trigger and the late Buster

said: “Although much has changed, today’s pieces we associate with Del Boy, Rodney, Grandad and Uncle Albert look weirdly modish.

“The clothes are so onpoint, we like to think that the show’s original costume designer would be proud.”

GQ then gives style-conscious readers some Only Fools

And Horses pointers adding: “Here are the cushiest OFAH style lessons you should apply to your own wardrobe right now.

“And if you don’t, then, well, you’re a plonker.”
