Jets have lift-off
NEW YORK JETS head coach Robert Saleh says his team will be “ready to roll” against the Atlanta Falcons at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium today.
The NFL returns to the UK for the first time this season with two teams desperate for a win to make sure their seasons don’t fall apart early.
Both the Jets and Falcons are 1-3 after four games, although Saleh’s men come into today’s clash with some confidence following their overtime win against Tennessee last weekend.
And Saleh (below) says he knows just what to expect playing in front of fans on this side of the pond. More importantly, he knows what it takes to get his side prepared to play.
Asked about the team’s travel plans, he said the club’s performance department was “doing a nice job”.
He added: “I’m not going to get into the plan, but I like what they put together so we’re ready to roll.
“Three times when I was in
Jacksonville – the whole league uses it as an example – my first year we were on the road in Cincinnati and travelled right out from there after the game. It was a miserable week. We lost. “The next year we did it on Thursday and that for me, at least talking to players, was the best they felt on a Sunday. We won and did it again the next year, and won.
“The performance department has a really cool plan, from leaving Thursday night. There’s a regimen put in place, the performance staff has a really good plan. I’m anxious to see how it works.” One thing that will not be a surprise is the talent of opposition quarterback Matt Ryan, 36.
Saleh said: “He has tremendous arm talent, he’s one of the bigger competitors, a really, really good competitor. He’s a dog, always fighting.”
