Says BILL BAILEY

STRICTLY winner Bill Bailey claims the show is haunted by spirits of showbiz legends.

It is made at Elstree Studios, where stars including Laurence Olivier and Sir Bruce Forsyth have worked.

And Bill says he could feel their presence when he competed on Strictly with Oti Mabuse, 31, last year.

He told the Daily Star Sunday:

“I know that there have been a lot of amazing performers and productions there.

“When you walk around the studios, you see photographs of all of these incredible films that were made there.

“I do believe venues absorb something of the atmosphere and presence of people that have gone through it.

“You feel it in the fabric of the structure of the place. There is an atmosphere at Elstree Studios and I certainly felt that while I was there.”

Bill, 56, thinks many of the iconic venues in London are also home to spirits of late entertainers. He added: “Any of the old theatres in the West End have had all these incredible performances over the years. “I do believe venues have the combined energy and atmosphere of all those years of performances. “Somehow it stays in the fabric of the building.” There have been a string of ghost sightings at Strictly over the years.

In 2017, contestants felt the presence of its former host Sir Bruce.

And in 2015 it was even claimed the studio, inset left, was being haunted by the ghost of the capuchin monkey from the Indiana Jones flicks, which were made there.

At the time pro dancer Janette Manrara, 37, said: “I always eat bananas when I am at Elstree to keep my energy levels up and every time I put them down they go missing. It’s the weirdest thing.”
