I gave up the takeaways & took away SIX STONE

AND SAVED £8K A YEAR

- EXCLUSIVE by EMMA DUNN sunday@dailystar.co.uk

A FAST-FOOD lover lost nearly six stone after ditching her £8,000-ayear takeaway habit. Sarah Pattison used to gorge on them up to six times a week.

The 26-year-old would fill up every night on Chinese dishes as well as McDonald’s takeaways and other fast food. It cost her up to £150 a week. Her addiction to greasy food left her topping the scales at 17st and she struggled to fit in a size 20.

But when

Sarah was offered a Covid jab early because her obesity put her in the vulnerable category, she knew she had to make changes.

And after swapping to a diet of healthy home-cooked meals, she is now 11st 4lb and a size 10.

Sarah said: “I’ve always wanted to lose weight and when I got offered the Covid vaccine early due to being overweight, I knew I needed to do something.

“I felt really sluggish and just couldn’t be bothered to cook, so I’d have a takeaway or shove in a ready meal. I would eat a huge

Swiss roll before bed and fall asleep with it in my hand. “Now I feel amazing and it’s great how quickly the weight has come off me.”

Sarah made the decision to lose weight in April. She joined the Cambridge Weight Plan diet and it helped her shed the pounds. She said: “The first four days were really tough.

“I was used to having so much food, so it was really difficult only having about 600 calories a day.” Before making a change Sarah had been starting her mornings with McDonald’s breakfasts and filling up on two litres of Coke a day.

She now eats lots of salads and steamed vegetables and walks four to six miles a day to keep fit. “I just want to maintain my weight now,” she said.

“I feel so much better – I finally have energy again.”

The mum, of Bishop’s Stortford, Herts, added: “Now I am happy to pose for a photo, and all my friends who hadn’t seen me over lockdown barely recognised me.”
