Cooper’s got Forest fired up says Joe

- HECTOR NUNNS

JOE WORRALL insists the Steve Cooper revolution is well under way at Nottingham Forest.

Former Swansea boss Cooper was appointed just five weeks ago after the East Midlands club sacked Chris Hughton with the team bottom of the Championship with one point after seven games.

But a late equaliser from Jack Colback against QPR on Friday night means a rejuvenated Forest have taken 17 from the last 24.

And Worrall reckons their mainly young squad has fully embraced the new emphasis on attack.

Defender Worrall said: “If fans could see our training they would see it is fast, high-octane and lots of goals.

“Maybe that means we need to defend better, I’d probably agree with that – stop the leaks.

“But that is the risk and reward of playing expansive football.

“When the manager came in he set his stall out and said, ‘I don’t want to attack with seven players, but with eight’.

“We were all looking around thinking, ‘Flippin’ heck!’

“But we have been out-scoring teams and overall have got off to a flier under the new manager.

“Steve has put pressure and expectation on us as defenders to start attacks, as well as the full-backs or wing-backs.

“He has instilled that in us from the start but we really need to knuckle down and be consistent.

“Look, it was only two months ago we were pulling our hair out.

“We can’t get too ahead of ourselves, but you have to believe in the process of what the new manager wants.

“I can speak on behalf of everyone that we have all certainly bought into it, the performances have shown that.

“And we are still a young group.”
