Farke is expecting Canaries to take off

- DAVID SNEYD

DANIEL FARKE insists his Norwich side are not lame ducks in the Premier League and are a wounded animal ready for a relegation dogfight.

The Canaries boss is adamant his players, who sit bottom of the table and are without a win, can still beat the odds to survive.

Farke has called on his squad to bounce back from last weekend’s demoralising 7-0 trouncing at Chelsea by beating Leeds this afternoon, and by showing the kind of resilience previously on display against Brighton, Burnley, Leicester, Arsenal and Everton.

“When you lose 7-0 you have to accept all the criticism,” he said.

“In the last eight months Chelsea lost one game, with one goal – together with Man City and Liverpool they are the best team in world.

“When you ask Brighton, I don’t think they would say that we are an animal without any teeth.

“Graham Potter said after our game that with

80 on the clock he was thinking, ‘Come on, take nil-nil’. I don’t think that Burnley would have said we were an animal without any teeth.

“I don’t think Mikel Arteta would agree we are animal without any teeth. We can go through it but if you lose games

7-0 you look like an animal with no teeth.”

With a smile, he added: “What we have to do is score goals, we can’t hide behind this fact any more. All my players are invited to score goals!

“When we are in good shooting situations, free-kicks or midfielders in good positions, I want them to be focused.

“Each and every one of my offensive players are invited to be there centre stage, in the spotlight.”
