It’s no pain, no gain for battered Robins
BOSS Mark Robins was hit by his No.2 as shock promotion-contenders Coventry pulled off a stunning win.
The Sky Blues played with 10 men after Ian Maatsen was sent off and twice came from behind to win it two minutes into injury time.
Robins was celebrating the winner that put Coventry fourth when he turned into assistant manager Adi Viveash.
“I needed five minutes of physio treatment,” he said.
“Adi kind of hit me in the neck as I turned and we were celebrating. It must be a trapped nerve because I’ve finished up with pins and needles in my hand.
“But it was a phenomenal win, a brave win.”
Maatsen was red carded with the first half almost over as he grabbed Callum O’Dowda’s shirt to stop him scoring.
Chris Martin put the penalty away and even after Matty Godden had equalised with another penalty, Bristol City went ahead again through Andreas
Weimann. Still Coventry wouldn’t give up.
And after the impressive Callum O’Hare equalised with his first goal of the season, Godden tucked away his fifth goal in five games.
It is four defeats out of five now for the Robins, not the tonic manager Nigel Pearson needs as he recovers from illness.
“The emotions came out in the dressing room after the game,” said stand-in boss Curtis Fleming.
“Probably a little bit raw, a bit of anger, a bit staggered.
“How much do we really want it? You’ve got to put you soul, head and body on the line.”
