Fergie’s goal-shy strugglers left in need of a bright spark
DARREN FERGUSON admitted his Peterborough side blew it after the lights went out on their chances of claiming a much-needed win.
A power cut struck the ground with 10 minutes remaining which led to a 15-minute delay.
When play eventually resumed substitute Joel Randall spurned the hosts’ best opening when he blazed over from 10 yards on 81 minutes after a silky run from Siriki Dembele.
And Posh almost nicked the points in injury-time when Dan Butler’s deflected effort from close range looped onto the roof of the net.
Despite ending a run of three successive defeats,
Posh boss Ferguson (above) said: “It’s definitely two points dropped, it was a game lacking in real quality. We cancelled each other out.
“In a game like that when you get the one big chance you win it – that was a big moment.
“We’ve only won two games this season and felt it was opportunity, we’re just missing a little break.”
The result leaves both teams in the Championship relegation zone and

marks the first point of Poya Asbaghi’s reign as Barnsley boss in his second game in charge. Cauley Woodrow went close for the visitors with a long-range effort in the first half and their best chance fell to Carlton Morris, whose effort was pushed away by Posh keeper Dai Cornell in time added on. Asbaghi said: “We don’t know how important this point might be at the end of the season.
“We’re building something that comes from good organisation and good defending, from there we have to build an even better offense.”
