Manpreet finds the strength to face Meena in court. She accepts Ethan’s offer to help her prepare her testimony. However, it’s not going to be an easy ride and she’s thrown when she hears Wendy has been called as a witness for the defence.
Meena is determined to walk free from her crimes. Although time is running out for the unhinged serial killer, Meena continues to manipulate everyone around her, including the prison guards. She turns on the charm offensive and manages to secure a newspaper from one of the wardens. When she sees she’s made the front cover, she’s delighted and fuelled by a fresh desire to take down her sister.
Kim and Gabby clash. Kim’s thrilled when she hears that Hazel is allowing Millie to come to Thomas’s christening. But her joy is short-lived as she receives a call the next day saying her granddaughter is too poorly to attend. Convinced Hazel is up to no good, Kim battles with Gabby about delaying the service.
Nate gets nasty with Chloe. After the pair share a cosy evening at the pub, Chloe ends up spending the night. Nate does his best to bat back Chloe’s advances but things turn sour when he savagely rejects her. Spotting that she’s upset, Noah steps in to save the day.
Emma considers a big move. When Jon reveals his plans to open a beach bar in Australia, Emma is left wondering if Weatherfield is where she belongs. She tells Jon she’ll think about the move, but how will it all pan out after Faye blurts out that they were the ones who killed Jon’s grandad?
Gary tries to convince Kelly to visit Laura. He’s shocked by Laura’s deterioration when he visits her in hospital. Mick is shocked when Linda turns up at the Queen Vic and the pair quickly return to their old ways and start bickering.
Linda loses her rag at the crematorium. While a tearful Shirley makes it through her eulogy, Mick is overwhelmed by emotion and struggles to get his words out. Linda’s blood boils when Janine steps in to comfort him and she hug Kelly again. Gary resolves to repair the mother-daughter relationship. But Kelly stands firm. She and Maria attend the hairdressing awards despite Gary warning her that Laura has just hours to live. Determined not to let her mum ruin her big day, she knocks back the wine.
Nick agrees to let Sam take part in a children’s chess tournament. Nick’s dismayed when Sam asks Roy to take him, but he watches on with pride when the day comes. storms out of the service and into a bottle of booze. She criticises the Carters in a drunken rage, causing Shirley to ban her from the wake.
Meanwhile, Nancy leans on Zack. With her alcohol-fuelled mum back in the picture, Nancy is in need of a shoulder to cry on. Zack offers her support – even though it means missing his cooking competition. When Nancy finds out about Zack’s sacrifice, she feels guilty.
Linda’s outbursts push Mick and Janine closer together and they kiss.
A voiceover from James discusses life as a high stakes game and he approaches his interrogation with DS Cohen in the same way... Under pressure, he recalls a fateful night, but is he telling the truth?
At the McQueens’, Goldie is convinced that a litter of acorns are a message from Sylver, and she discovers a spiritual talent.
Still convinced that James can change, Donna-Marie extends an olive branch. Later, he arranges a family meeting at The Dog, but things are bittersweet as James makes some announcements.
Elsewhere, a shocking discovery at the hospital gives Sam the idea to do his own investigation.
