Mother who told mob of paedo living near school

A COUNCIL worker leaked the address of a sex offender to an anti- paedophile group.
It led to a 30-strong mob turning up outside his home, threatening to kill him and burn down the house.
Chloe Carr, 23, told the paedophile hunters that the sex offender “deserves all he gets” and it was “disgusting” his new home was near a school.
The man had to be rapidly moved to a new address and a court heard Carr’s unprofessional actions helped to “whip up a frenzy” and were “not a public service at all”.
Carr was working as a customer services assistant at Hull City Council when she saw the sex offender’s address on a group work chat.
Another member of staff had sent a message saying the man had contacted the council asking for a food parcel as he had been placed into emergency accommodation after his details were posted online.
Carr sent a screenshot of the man’s address to an anti-paedophile group in Hull and said: “This can’t come back to me due to my work.”
She told the online group it was “so wrong” to house the man there, and the paedophile hunters revealed they would put the details online.
Later, the sex offender told police that people were at his door trying to break in and he had been warned to “get out now or they would kill him and burn down the property”. The anti-paedophile group contacted Carr, heavily pregnant at the time, on Facebook Messenger to thank her and say the sex offender had been moved. She replied: “I am so happy.” Carr, from Cottingham, East Yorks, admitted unlawfully disclosing private data and was fined £500. At Hull Crown Court last week, Judge Mark Bury told her: “It’s not doing a public service at all. You thought you were helping. You were not.”
