BRITS: WE SEE DEAD PEOPLE

.. but no rush to speak to partners Bowie spooked by Dad’s calls

-

DAVID Bowie claimed his dad’s ghost phoned him every day for a week after he died.

The singer was “convinced” it was him on the line because it rang at the exact same time each day.

His drummer pal John Cambridge revealed that it happened after Bowie and his band moved into a country house in Derbyshire.

He said: “Haddon Hall was an old and atmospheric place and had a spooky, kind of gothic feel, with a dark, sweeping staircase and big, stained glass windows. I personally never felt there was anything supernatural about it, even though producer Tony Visconti seemed convinced there was a ghost there.

“David confided in me that the telephone rang at 5.30pm every day for a week just after his father died, in August 1969.

“He said nobody ever answered when he said, ‘Hello’. He was convinced it was his dad letting him know that everything was OK.”

Bowie’s dad Haywood “John” Jones was just 56 when he died

The Starman passed away in January 2016, two days after his 69th birthday.

SPOOKY Britain has millions of wannabe psychics who believe they can talk to the dead.

More than 30% think they have the ability to make contact with someone from beyond the grave.

But the findings won’t raise spouses’ spirits – because dead husbands and wives are the ones they least want to talk to.

Most of the amateur mediums took their vows of “till death do us part” seriously, with just 4% saying they wanted to chat to a spouse or partner who had passed away.

Grandparents were top of the list, with 41% saying they had tried to communicate with them.

Parents came in second at 24%, while dead friends were the third most popular people to reach out to.

Husbands, wives and partners were the least favourite option for an other-worldly catch-up, according to the survey by online ghost-hunting gadget shop Spiritshack.co.uk.

The poll also revealed that 41% of us think we have seen a ghost. A spokesman said: “Despite varying beliefs about the afterlife, over two in five respondents have felt the presence of or seen someone who has passed.

“Just under a third believe it’s possible to communicate with the dead, and one in three has actively attempted to contact the dead. “Whatever your beliefs about the afterlife, it’s unlikely we’ll be able to find definitive answers. “However, our experiences in this life may provide us with clues about different possibilities in the next. “Whether we’re anxious, hopeful, or just plain curious, we’ll continue to search for ways to find out what awaits us on the other side.” Many people confessed they would pay someone to help them speak to a dead loved-one.

And more than half of those who believe we can speak to the dead used a medium, with others trying prayer, ouija boards, channelling and seances.
