No butts, this is Rishi’s cig idea

-

I SOMETIMES feel a tiny bit sorry for Rishi Sunak.

He’s clearly an incompetent Prime Minister and not cut out to be a leader of a too-short-trousers society, never mind the country.

And he’s deemed so dull he can’t even wear a pair of trainers without it causing an international drop in sales (see below).

But unlike many in his party who are out for themselves, he does seem genuinely well-intentioned.

He’s already loaded so I don’t believe he’s in it to make himself richer.

The same can definitely not be said for lots of his greedy colleagues. Sunak’s had bad luck.

When he came up with “Eat Out To Help Out” he probably thought he was on to a good thing.

Although the £850million scheme didn’t do much, other than spark a second wave of Covid – leading to a new lockdown.

He may be PM but he only fell into the role after coming second in a popularity contest with Liz Truss – who turned out to be the worst PM the country had ever seen… since the previous one.

Talk about sloppy seconds.

It’s because of this perilous mandate that Rishi can’t forge any clear policy and is swayed by the lunatic fringes of his party.

Even when he spearheads an arguably good idea that will benefit the health of the nation, he is undermined.

This time his plan to phase out the sale of tobacco to kids has been pi**ed on from a great height by none other than his former boss, Boris Johnson. Rishi must hate Bozo. The teetotal, rule-abiding geek got a fixed penalty notice for attending Bozo’s lockdown-busting birthday bash.

And now he’s dealing with the oaf slamming his ideas from afar. Bozo hangs around like a bad smell.

Johnson called the policy “nuts”, adding: “When the party of Winston Churchill (inset) wants to ban cigars, it’s just mad.”

This from the man who brought in lockdowns, essentially banning all freedoms and preventing you kissing your dying relatives goodbye.

Rishi’s plan is to raise the legal age at which you can buy cigarettes annually, effectively barring anyone aged 14 or under now from ever being able to buy them.

What’s wrong with that? Smoking is highly addictive and causes countless deaths. It’s got to be worth exploring the idea.

Rishi may well be remembered as the third-worst PM we’ve ever had, but with a policy like this, he could leave a positive, lasting legacy.

That’s something that will never be said of Truss or Bozo. So butt out you has-been losers.
