Rinomhota regret after his own goal seals it for Swans

- OUR REPORTER

LUKE WILLIAMS wants Swansea City to fight for a top-half finish in the Championship after masterminding victory over Rotherham United.

Andy Rinomhota’s own goal in the 74th minute proved enough for the Swans to claim all three points against the alreadyrelegated Millers.

Following back-to-back wins, Swansea sit five points adrift of the top 12 with three games remaining this season. And Williams still feels his Swans side can finish in the top half.

He said: “Let’s go and make really good performances and see how many points we can pick up. We’re nearly a good team. We have a really big summer and then we can do something exciting.

“Of course, we have to try to get the right personnel that are going to thrive. If we do all of that, we’re going to be alright.”

Defeat was Rotherham’s third in a row and while his side failed to manage a shot on target against Swansea, boss Leam Richardson felt the loss was “cruel” on his players.

“It’s a cruel game at times,” he said. “The goal conceded, obviously it’s cruel because Andy’s been very good and he’s been committed.

“We know which moment we are in and we know how we want to go forward with it. We want to put our best foot forward to return to this level and be a better version of ourselves.”
