IT ALL ADDS UP TO MATHS PRIZE

- By PATRICK WEAVER

TRAINER Roger Charlton has sent just five juveniles to Ffos Las in the last five years with one victory.

Charlton, pictured, can double that total with MATHS PRIZE (2.00, nap), who caught the eye of many a good judge on his Sandown debut.

That was behind Larchmont Lad when, after being held up at the back of the field, he finished strongly to take second and is clearly open to further improvement.

Easy Carlisle winner, YORKEE MO SABEE (3.00) looks to have an excellent chance to follow up.

He made all on that occasion and the likelihood is that he will get an uncontested lead and do the same, defying a 6lb rise in the weights. BLENHEIM WARRIOR (4.00) made amends for an unlucky run at Newbury when getting up close home at Salisbury.

He was probably value for ® more than the official winning margin of a head and can follow up off just a 4lb higher mark.

There are some good bets to be had at Nottingham’s evening meeting with LIGHTNING NORTH (6.10, nb) the stand out.

She was another eyecatcher on her debut at Yarmouth when chasing home the more experienced Nile Empress.

She travelled well through the race and kept on resolutely to suggest the run would do her the world of good.

MASTER BOND (6.40) may have finished last on his latest outing but that doesn’t tell the full story.

He had the worst of the draw and had to race wide which did not help his cause.

The handicapper has dropped him 4lb which means he has slipped 12lb since the start of the season. He also races off an 11lb lower rating than when last successful and hails from the in-form David O’Meara yard. YOSEMITE (7.10) has not been seen since winning at Goodwood last October and makes her handicap debut on what may prove to be a workable mark. She is unexposed and may be capable of a great deal better. The yard is adept at getting their runners ready and she should be watched in the market. JOHN CAESAR (2.15) is yet to win on grass but has an excellent chance to break that duck in the opener at Musselburgh. He comes here on the back of two decent placed efforts.
