YORKSHIRE is the most ethnically “British” part of the UK, according to DNA test results collated by family history website Ancestry.

Their research shows 41% of Yorkshire folk are of Anglo-Saxon stock.

Across the UK, the average resident is 36.9% Anglo Saxon, 21.5% Celtic (Irish), 19.9% western European and 9.2% Scandinavian.

London is the most ethnically diverse area.
