CHART-toppers Madness are to appear in the new series.

The “Nutty Boys”, who scored hits with Baggy Trousers, One Step Beyond and House of Fun, will be booked for a gig in the Spanish resort.

But as often happens on the ITV sitcom, not everything goes to plan.

The lads filmed their spot on the show last week and producers had hoped to keep their appearance a secret. But holidaymakers spotted frontman Suggs shooting scenes for the end of the series.

A source said: “We are thrilled to get Madness on board. It’s going to be a great episode.

“The cast were quite star-struck. Madness play a handful of hits in the show.”

Benidorm has a history of bagging celebrity guest stars including the late Cilla Black, Joan Collins, Shane Richie, Matthew Kelly, The Krankies, Janet Street-Porter, Wizzard, Su Pollard, Louie Spence, Una Stubbs and Jason Manford.

Scriptwriter Derren Litten said: “A lot of people want to be on the show. It has always been about crazy characters.”

The ninth series of Benidorm will begin on ITV in the new year. HERE comes the bride... and gloom? Dawn Toxton, played by Sharon Rooney, wanted a fairytale wedding. But from the look on her face, it may not be the stuff that dreams are made of. The show airs on Monday, ITV, at 9pm.
