CRAIG Revel Horwood reckons X Factor boss Simon Cowell needs to do Strictly to save his career.

The pair have been at war for years while starring on rival Saturday night shows.

But after The X Factor suffered its worst ratings in a decade at the weekend, Craig has boasted Simon now needs to give Strictly a go to remain a top star.

In another swipe, he predicted Simon would be useless on the dance floor. He said: “He’d probably love himself too much. I think he’s probably got two left feet.”

In the past, stars from The X Factor have defected to Strictly to get a career boost.

Dismal

Caroline Flack won the BBC dance contest after previously fronting X Factor’s spin-off The Xtra Factor.

This year Melvin Odoom, who hosted The Xtra Factor last year, will be competing on Strictly.

Simon has splashed the cash to get Nicole Scherzinger, Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne back on his judging panel.

But ratings for the first two shows last weekend were dismal.

It averaged below seven million viewers and is expected to drop further this weekend as it will be competing with Strictly for interest from the public.

Craig stuck the knife in last night and said: “We have celebrities whereas on The X Factor they’re wannabes hoping to be famous.”

He added: “I’d love to keep The X Factor going because I’ve employed Alexandra Burke in my Sister Act show.

“Simon Cowell is doing all the leg work for me in finding stars.”

Strictly is back for its latest series on Saturday with a launch show that will see the celebrity contestants find out which professional they will be dancing with.

The episode is expected to pull in around 10million viewers.

Worried ITV chiefs have decided to air The X Factor at 8.15pm – after Strictly has finished.

Last year Strictly beat The X Factor in the ratings every weekend, pulling in around two million more viewers.
