ERIC Cantona last night threw his hat into the ring to become England’s next manager.

The French football legend, 50, claimed in an hilarious internet video that he was ready to succeed disgraced Sam Allardyce. Wearing a Three Lions shirt, the Manchester United icon mocked England’s humiliating elimination from Euro 2016 by minnows Iceland. He slammed former boss Roy Hodgson’s decision to let 6ft 2in Spurs forward Harry Kane take free-kicks. And he blasted goalkeeper Joe Hart for crucial blunders against Wales and Iceland. But Cantona said Wayne Rooney was exempt from any blame – as long as he continues to play for the Red Devils. Referring ® to the Iceland defeat, he said: “I, Eric Cantona, future manager of England, promise never to lose against a small frozen island where the goalkeeper is a movie director and the assistant coach a dentist.

“I, manager of England, will ask the giant Harry Kane not to hit crucial free-kicks or corners but to go on the end of it for the header.

“Especially if you are going to hit the f***ing free-kick to the Moon.’’

And he added: “I, Eric Cantona, future manager of England, will pray to the Gods of Football to end the curse of the English goalkeeper.’’

He also pledged to bring in legendary Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson to be his consultant.

Cantona – labelled “King Eric” by adoring United fans – is a 100-1 outsider with the bookies.

But last night, England fans called on the FA to give him the job.

One said: “This may be a joke but what he says is bang on. I say give the King a go.” Another added: “He’s a football genius. If he wants to be England manager then they should give him the job now.”

Allardyce, 61, quit after being filmed chasing a £400,000 business deal to top up his £3million salary.
