John so eager to go for it

JOHN EGAN says Brentford’s attacking armoury has visiting teams running scared.

Brentford have struck nine goals in their last two home games at Griffin Park even without injured star midfielder Alan Judge.

Dean Smith’s men fancy their chances of continuing their goal glut against struggling Wigan today.

And defender Egan said: “It doesn’t seem in our nature to sit back.

“And why would you when you have players that can hurt teams.

“Our home record has been good. We fully believe we can beat teams.

“That’s the confidence we have at the moment.

“Our mentality is to keep pushing for another goal rather than sit back.”

Brentford lie fifth in the table but boss Smith says their impressive start is no fluke.

“The run of form is down to the hard work done from the end of last season,” he said.

“We are just now getting the rewards.

“Now we have confidence I want the players to run with it.

“I’ve never been one to keep a lid on confidence.”
