Addicks tune out

- by ALEX SMITH

CHARLTON have been banned from playing a charity song before games – by one of their own fans.

Jon McCaffrey heard his charity version of Paul McCartney’s ‘Mull of Kintyre’, named ‘Valley Floyd Road’, blaring around the ground.

He recorded it with former Addick heroes Scott Parker, Claus Jensen, Matt Svensson and Kevin Lisbie in 2001.

But McCaffrey has now refused to let the east London outfit use it in protest at owner Roland Duchatelet.

The song won’t be heard before today’s visit of Rochdale and McCaffrey said: “It reflects a different, better chapter in the history of CAFC.

“Sadly it feels like it currently has no place at Roland Duchatelet’s Charlton.”
