IT’S gone midnight and I’m running down a narrow corridor illuminated by a single strobe light.

After somehow becoming separated from the group, I try desperately to escape from the grasps of cinema’s most famous cannibal, Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Sweating, panting and in a state of panic, I push on walls, rattle the handles of doors that refuse to budge and shout for help.

And this is on a night where I’ve already been hunted by zombies, squirted with blood and stalked by demons wanting to take over my soul.

For more than 25 years, Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights have been chilling terror fans to the bone.

An equally fun and fearfilled way to enjoy a holiday in Florida, the theme park’s month-long fright fest gets bigger and more popular each year as it finds more twisted ways to spook its guests.

It’s certainly no kiddies’ pumpkin party.

The park’s actors fill every dark corner of the infamous mazes based on classic movies, TV shows and original concepts, timing their terrifying tricks to perfection to freak you out when you least expect it.

Everybody’s favourite cannibal, part-time butcher and mass-murderer of stranded teenagers, Leatherface (so called because he wears masks made from human faces), haunts chill-seekers in a particularly stark and narrow maze based on the Chainsaw Massacre film franchise.

Dared

For me, this was a really twisted adrenaline rush and I spent most of it running with my head down, grabbing any other human in there, and trying to find the exit.

Meanwhile, new for this year and the largest of all the mazes, is the wickedly gruesome American Horror Story.

Here fright fans are dared to become the victims in their very own slasher movie.

Being a big fan of the show, I thought I knew what to expect.

It turned out I had no idea what I’d let myself in for as I made my way through eerie corridors based on the Murder House, Freak Show and Hotel seasons. It’s a relentlessly ghoulish experience that will have you bolting from killer clowns, psychopathic surgeons and the ghosts of their victims.

But if you resist the urge to squeeze your eyes shut, you’ll spot a Lady Gaga lookalike recreating the pop superstar’s awardwinning role from the hit series.

Anyone who’s seen The Exorcist, deemed the scariest film of all time, will recall the macabre scenes of a young girl becoming possessed by an ancient demon.

Creep

After being hit by the stench of vomit, bodily fluids and pea soup, the scares in this haunted house will creep you out for a long time.

Don’t make the mistake of thinking that you’ve escaped evil outside of the enclosed scare experiences, as you’ll still find yourself constantly dodging zombie prom queens,
