ANTHONY GELLING sent Wigan into their fourth successive Grand Final after clinching an almighty battle.

Challenge Cup holders Hull led with nine minutes to go after sneaking the lead with a controversial Steve Michaels try.

But the Warriors refused to buckle and hooker Sam Powell dived over to wrestle back the lead for the injury-hit side.

Gelling then put the seal on the win with his late try and, in this mean mood, Wigan will give Warrington a fair old scrap at Old Trafford next Saturday.

Hull looked hopeless in the first half with Wigan winger Lewis Tierney diving over twice in the opening 14 minutes.

The son of former Wigan and dual code international Jason Robinson was put in from close range by Dan Sarginson for the first.

Quick passing by George Williams and Liam Farrell set him up for his second, with Matty Smith missing both conversions. Yp ALC@< JKFKK Hull slowly tightened up at the back but they continued to look suspect under the relentless Wigan pressure.

They looked like seeing out the half until Wigan to got a lucky break when Smith attempted a drop goal.

Panic

His effort was charged down by Danny Houghton and went straight to Wigan’s dangerous forward John Bateman, who bravely threw himself between two Hull players to touch down under the sticks.

Smith added the conversion on the stroke of half-time for a 14-0 lead.

Then Lee Radford shook his Black and ® Whites up with a half-time riot act and they came out firing in devastating style.

Josh Bowden was denied by a try-saving tackle by Sarginson, but within minutes he had touched down following a break by Danny Washbrook.

Marc Sneyd kicked the goal and minutes later he added another after prop Liam Watts went over.

With their lead cut to four points, Wigan started to panic and a Smith penalty gave them only brief respite.

The biggest drama of the night then saw both sides believe they had scored – incredibly in the same move.

The ball came loose as Hull’s Michaels tried to ground it and Wigan’s Oliver Gildart picked up and then raced 100 metres before touching down.

Wigan were convinced it was their try but the video referee ruled it out.

Sneyd added the goal, giving Hull the lead for the first time. But back came Wigan with Powell’s crucial try and Gelling’s late effort to seal it. FIVE Which team won last season’s Grand Final?
