Leo will play pop legend
LEONARDO DiCaprio is to play pioneering music producer Sam Phillips, who made stars of Elvis Presley and Ike Turner.
Paramount Pictures has acquired the rights to the book Sam Phillips: The Man Who Invented Rock ‘n’ Roll, and DiCaprio, 42, will develop the film through his Appian Way company.
Phillips, who died in 2003, aged 80, also worked with Howlin’ Wolf, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison.
He was credited with helping to integrate the music industry in the segrated US south.
