Yobs’ drunk tanks

-

ENGLAND fans who step out of line at the 2018 World Cup in Russia will face being banged up in old Soviet-era drunk tanks

The furniture-free isolation units, where inmates were stripped of their clothes and given disposable outifts while they dried out, were abolished five years ago.

But they will return in 11 cities hosting matches in 2018.

Health minister Veronika Skortsova said: “We need sobering-up places – a special system which gives a person the opportunity to stay safe, and not freeze in the street or get into a difficult situation.’’

The units were introduced in 1904 to combat rising alcoholism.

But many England fans have already declared on social media they plan to stay away after attacks by hardcore Russian hooligans at Euro 2016 in France.
