Mother in well plunge horror

-

A MUM drowned after she fell into a secret well at her home.

Irena Nadiotis had been gardening when the tragedy happened, an inquest heard.

The 57-year-old had lived at the 17th Century house in Tetbury, Glos, for about 18 months with daughter Maddi and son Hari.

Coroner Katie Skerrett said at the inquest in Gloucester: “It seems this woman was enjoying that afternoon, she was doing some gardening.

“Her daughter looked out of the upstairs window and saw the well in the garden which had never been there before.

“Previously, it had been covered with patio or flag stones.”

Maddi found her mother at the bottom of the well.

Ms Skerrett added: “The ground had clearly given way beneath Ms Nadiotis.”

She recorded a verdict of accidental death.

Ms Nadiotis worked as a garden guide at Highgrove Gardens in Tetbury.

At the time of her death Highgrove, owned by Prince Charles, said: “Irena was a cherished member of our team.”
