DANNY DYER TRUTH ABOUT MY DAD

Soap star’s daughter reveals all

FURIOUS Dani Dyer last night leapt to her dad’s defence after he took a break from EastEnders. BBC chiefs also backed “popular” Danny, promising he would soon return.

EASTENDERS star Danny Dyer’s daughter last night defended her dad after he pulled out of the show due to “exhaustion”.

The £400,000-a-year actor has taken a break after talks with the BBC One soap’s bosses.

They were reportedly concerned about him after he fell off the wagon at last month’s National Television Awards.

Yesterday sources claimed the star had repeatedly stormed off the EastEnders’ set, acted like “lord of the manor”, talked down to crew members, and fell out with some of his co-stars.

But yesterday Danny’s daughter Dani, 20, took to Twitter to defend the actor.

She wrote: “I swear to God if I see one more bulls*** lie about my dad. Stupid stupid stupid people. Stay the f*** out of my family life!’’

BBC bosses also backed up Dani’s insistence that the claims were untrue.

An EastEnders spokesman said: “There is absolutely no truth in any of these allegations.

“Danny is always a consummate professional.

“He has never walked off set, nor has he ever lost his temper or been rude to anyone at work.

“Danny is an extremely popular member of cast and respected by everyone on the show.’’

He said Danny, 39, whose co-stars turned out in force to support him at his wedding to childhood sweetheart Joanne Mas just five months ago, was on a “short break” from the show.

“This was not enforced by bosses nor has he quit the show,” the spokesman added. “There is absolutely no truth that an exit storyline is being discussed or planned.”

It is not the first time Danny’s off-screen behaviour has sparked controversy.

He had to apologise to former Bake Off judge Mary Berry, 81, after drunkenly manhandling her on stage at the 2014 TV Choice Awards. Last summer he was left with a black eye after he was involved in a fight at V Festival with pals of reality star Mark Wright, 30.

He tried to quit booze at the start of the year but was seen drinking heavily at the TV awards.

An EastEnders source said yesterday: “He is an extremely talented and charismatic actor who brings such presence to the screen.

“He is seen as the ‘Lionel Messi’ of the team.

“Because of that the big cheeses will do all they can to keep him.’’
