Free taxi to A&E if you can get it down

HUNGRY diners tucking into a monster one-stone steak have been promised a free ride to A&E if they need it – should they wolf it all down.

The Holy Cow Steak Sharer is more than two inches thick and two feet long.

Its massive size means it takes two and a half hours to cook medium rare.

The 14lb rump is so huge the owner of the George Pub and Grill, Craig Harker, has set the beef banquet as a challenge ® for four people to eat in 45 minutes. The giant portion costs an equally impressive £124.95 and diners have to order it 24 hours in advance so the meat can be sought from a butcher.

Man v Food fan Craig said: “It is absolutely delicious. If you cook rump properly it is the best steak there is.

“It has to be butterflied, otherwise it would take far too long to cook.

“We then get it back here and season it before whacking it in the oven and then putting it under the grill. We find a lot of people are in food comas when completing a challenge so we offer a service that we will take you to A&E free of charge if needed.”

If munchers manage to complete the challenge, which includes onion rings and chips, they get a certificate and a George food champ hoodie.

Zaiga Brive and three of her friends were among the first to try the dish in Stockton-onTees, Co Durham.

The 24-year-old said: “I knew when it came there was no chance I would get through a quarter of the giant steak.

“I kept going until I couldn’t eat any more. It took six of us to eat it.”
