Rangers are still paying price for letting me go

WARNOCK’S BLAST FOR HIS OLD BOSS

-

NEIL WARNOCK says QPR are still counting the cost after letting him leave.

The Cardiff boss reckons his former club were wrong to let him go in 2015 after he steadied the ship following the sacking of Chris Ramsey.

After he picked up seven points from four games, owner Tony Fernandes appointed Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink instead. He went on to win only 13 of 47 matches while in charge.

Current boss Ian Holloway is struggling to keep his side out of a ®Êby JAKE BACON relegation battle as Warnock returns to Loftus Road today.

“I don’t think they made that much of an effort to keep me,” said Warnock.

“I did say I’d help them over Christmas but we were only two points off the play-offs.

“After we won at Reading, I was told by Les [Ferdinand] that Jimmy was taking over the next day. That was a little bit of a bolt from the blue but these things happen in football really.”

Warnock is hugely popular at QPR for masterminding their promotion to the Premier League in 2011.

“Whenever I see QPR fans, a lot of them say it’s the best year they’ve ever had,” he said.

“I’ve not been back as an opposition manager. But there will be a good atmosphere, I’m sure the fans will be glad to see me. It won’t be like getting stick from everywhere else.”

The home side will be wearing a special all-white kit to mark 50 years since they lifted the League Cup – the club’s only major domestic trophy.
