CLEM FEELS THE BURN!

Swans boss fears end of Clarets’ away-day pain

- By JAKE BACON

PAUL CLEMENT is worried that Burnley’s atrocious away run will finally come to an end at the Liberty Stadium today.

Burnley have one of the worst away records in the country this season, picking up just two points out of a possible 36 on their travels. And despite Swansea looking for a third successive home win, Clement fears Sean Dyche’s men could finally get their act together. The Swans boss said: “We are not more confident of getting a result just because of Burnley’s away record this season.

Surge

“If anything, it makes you more worried that we can potentially be the place where they get that first win. “We are very focused on making sure that does not happen.” Burnley have not won away in the Premier League since a 1-0 victory at Aston Villa in May 2015. But their brilliant home form has seen them surge to 11th this term. Clement, though, ® will be hoping for a different outcome to his last clash with Dyche, in January 2016.

The then-Derby coach saw his side thrashed 4-1 in the Championship.

“I wasn’t at the club for too long after that,” said Clement, who was sacked a fortnight later.

“I know Sean well, he was at Watford as their Under-18s coach and I was at Chelsea in the same position.

“I can’t remember the scores in those youth games but his Burnley sides are ruthless defensively.

“They are well-drilled and happy for the other team to have the ball and then strike on the counter-attack or a set-piece.

“And that is where they get their goals from.”
