Andre to take aim at Harry

- By MIKE WHALLEY

ANDRE GRAY has been told to watch Harry Kane – and learn.

The Burnley striker has been touted for his first England call-up when Gareth Southgate names his squad for the upcoming games with Germany and Lithuania.

It would be some turnaround for a striker who was playing non-League football with Luton less than three years ago.

Gray, 25, became the first Burnley player since 1975 to score a top-flight hat-trick when he hit three against Sunderland on New Year’s Eve.

But boss Sean Dyche reckons he can become an international star if he follows Tottenham ace Kane

Terrific

“The basics are all there for Andre,” said Dyche ahead of today’s trip to Swansea.

“You know the higher you go in your career, you’re going to need more tools. You can’t just rely on the one good thing that you’ve already got.

“So it’s about adapting to the all-round game, especially at international level. And I just think Harry Kane’s been terrific. I have enjoyed watching him.

“For me, he’s right up there as an all-round centre-forward. He plays up there as a one or in a two, he can press or drop in – all things you want from a modern striker.

“So I still think Andre, if he’s going to get in the England side – or enter their thinking – he’s got to be ready to take on people like Harry Kane.”
