Pep's Aguero rage

- by IAN WHITTELL

PEP GUARDIOLA reacted angrily yesterday when asked about Sergio Aguero’s future at Manchester City. He snapped: “I spoke 10 times about that. Ten times. You know my opinion. I cannot answer every press conference about Aguero. “He is so happy, I am so happy. We are happy. Ten times I answer. No more please.” The Argentinian’s fate has been under a cloud since the sensational arrival of teenage Brazilian Gabriel Jesus. But an injury to the 19-year-old has seen

Aguero return to City’s starting line-up and respond impressively.

The Argentinian admitted after scoring twice in the midweek FA Cup win over Huddersfield that he wants to discuss his future with Guardiola in the summer.

While Aguero has a deal until 2020, a number of key players are out of contract this summer, including Yaya Toure, Pablo Zabaleta, Bacary Sagna, Jesus Navas, Gael Clichy and Willy Caballero.

Guardiola insists he and director of football Txiki Begiristain will not open contract talks with them until the end of the season, leaving City open to the danger of losing them to other clubs as free agents.

Guardiola added: “I don’t speak with the agents, I speak with Txiki. Maybe they can speak because the agent’s job is to do that.

“We’ll make the decision at the end of the season. The players have to try to keep going, to convince me every day. They know the situation.

“Of course there is a risk that they can sign for another club and we have to accept that.”

Guardiola takes City to Sunderland tomorrow without skipper Vincent Kompany, who has not shaken off his latest injury, a muscle tweak, and only returned to training on Thursday.

Guardiola said: “He is nearly ready to come back.

“Hopefully he’ll help us in the last two to three months of the season.”
