Vikings up for a fight

- Mark Pearson on the Super League

BETFRED Super League action continues this weekend with the Sky cameras in Perpignan where Catalans Dragons host Widnes Vikings.

The Vikings went down narrowly last time out in a hastily-switched fixture against Wigan.

They are now winless in five and are also looking for a first success in France. This contrasts with a Dragons side high on confidence after good victories over Hull and Warrington.

They will be hopeful of maintaining a 100 per cent record and should win at long odds-on. But take Widnes to stay within the 18-point start they’re awarded at 10-11.

Also today, Salford welcome Warrington to the AJ Bell Stadium. Defeats to Catalans and Castleford sandwiched a mammoth display by the Wolves in beating Brisbane in the World Club Series.

With their attention now fully back on league matters, they can gain their first points at Salford’s expense. I fancy Warrington to have their measure and they can cover the sixpoint handicap at 10-11.

Tonight’s grudge bout at the O2 sees Tony Bellew face David Haye. Haye’s last competitive fight was almost five years ago but he has weighed in some 11lb heavier than Bellew.

The thinking is Haye will look to get it done early. But he wants to dish out a heavy defeat, so maybe a Haye victory in the latter rounds offers value for a punt.
