NINE men, one boat, adrift in the stormy Pacific ocean taking on the harshest re-enactment ever on TV.

Extreme reality shows don’t get any tougher than this.

Their goal? To follow one of the greatest feats ever – recreating the 4,000mile journey of Captain William Bligh after the mutiny on The Bounty.

And despite being some of the fittest military men alive, this gripping new Channel 4 show pushes them to the limit – especially when they are in a tiny, rickety, wooden boat and have nothing to eat.

But famine, extreme weather and lack of resources won’t stop these guys as they take on the incredible task which tests the physical and mental strength of everyone involved.

Hardest

Captaining the boat and fronting the show is former Special Forces hero Ant Middleton, who hosted SAS: Who Dares Wins, also on Channel 4.

But even for this survival expert it was beyond the toughest challenge he’s ever encountered; he lost more than three stone during the monthlong challenge.

Ant, 36, explains: “Mentally speaking, it was the hardest thing I have ever done. We are re-enacting the journey taken by William Bligh after the mutiny on The Bounty in 1789.

“He and his crew were left for dead. But to everyone’s surprise, they turned up 46 days later at a trading post.

“We tried to stay as true to the story as possible and sailed the 4,000 miles from Tonga to Timor, islandhopping along the way in a 23ft open wooden boat.

“We had just under 400 calories of ship’s biscuits and biltong a day and just under a litre of water each a day.

“Psychologically, it was really tough and physically there was a real and ever-present risk out there at sea.”

Alongside Ant is a crew of other military men, all setting off with the same rations as William Bligh, including 16 x 2lb pieces of salt pork – which was replaced with biltong due to customs regulations – and 28 gallons of water which had to last them 48 days.

While Ant lost weight dramatically Luke Kane, the boat’s doctor, lost even more – four stone.

He reveals: “I knew how ha on an 85kg we
