LOOKING like a typical Lexus thanks to its massive Star Wars TIE fighter grille, this is the new LC 500 which, at £76,595, is available to order now with first deliveries in late July.

If outrageous speed outweighs loopy looks in your book, the LC 500 fits the bill.

Top speed is expected to be limited to 155mph. However, with 471hp from its 5.0-litre V8, 0-62mph comes up in 4.4s.

It sits on 20-inch wheels but a £4,000 Sport Pack adds 21-inch forged alloys, a carbon fibre roof rather than glass, leather and Alcantara trim and sports seats.

Another £5,300 gets you the Sport+ Pack, which in addition to the Sport pack adds four-wheel steer, limited slip diff, variable ratio steering, retractable spoiler, carbon fibre scuff plates and additional Alcantara finishing. Total bill: £85,895.

Needless to say, being a Lexus there’s also the option of a hybrid vehicle for exactly the same £76,595 price as the LC 500. Called the LC 500h this car comes with a mere 3.5-litre V6 but gets an electric motor to help it along to a total power output of 354hp.

It’s still mighty quick, too, with 0-62mph coming up in 4.9s. Nothing has been said about top speed yet.

By the way I think LC stands for luxury coupé and LS is luxury sedan, while TIE means Twin Ion Engines.

These are thought to have no moving parts, but as they don’t actually exist no-one knows that for sure, either.
