On the FA Cupset!

BOOKIES have revealed the biggest gamble in FA Cup history so far.

They unveiled a £1 accumulator on the competition’s four underdogs that will pay out more than £25,000.

Non-league minnows Lincoln City are 33-1 to beat struggling Arsenal while underdogs Middlesbrough, Millwall and Manchester United are all outsiders in their matches against Manchester City, Spurs and Chelsea.

But despite the long odds, punters have spent thousands backing the Imps to pull owff the biggest giant-killing ever today.

William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly said: “There are some who think this is the perfect match for Arsenal. But others are suggesting Lincoln have already upset odds of 250-1 to make it this far, so 33-1 should be comparatively easy.

“Certainly there are punters who believe this to be the case.”

Whistle

Jessica Bridge, of Ladbrokes, added: “Money talks, and the public would love to see Lincoln cause another giant-killing as the 22-1 match outsiders.

“As for Wenger, his odds of being sacked are in freefall and he could well be out of a job by the time the ref blows the whistle if the Gunners exit the competition.”

Bookies have also been quick to offer a series of novelty bets.

Paddy Power is offering punters odds of 25-1 that Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez will storm off the pitch halfway through the match.

William Hill is offering odds of 50-1 that Lincoln boss Danny Cowley will replace Wenger if the Frenchman decides to step down.

Ahead of the clash, Lincoln City’s part-time players got some unlikely support from the last surviving British Dambuster.

George “Johnny” Johnson, 95, wants the minnows’ players and fans to salute the flyers’ motto “Apres moi le Deluge” – meaning “After me, the Flood” – which was 617 Squadron’s famous battlecry when they took to the skies.
