AND THE WINNER ISN’T ANT & DEC
HOLLY Willoughby triumphed to steal a rare TV Personality Of The Year title off Ant and Dec.
The duo snubbed their invite to yesterday’s TRIC awards so avoided seeing Holly, 36, take the coveted prize they had won for four consecutive years.
Accepting her award, an excited Holly, 36, gushed: “This is amazing. I was not expecting that at all, Ant and Dec win everything.
“This is very cool, thank you, thank you very much.”
There was more joy for the mum-of-three as This Morning won Best Daytime programme and Celebrity Juice Best Satellite show.
Ant and Dec’s Britain’s Got Talent also lost to Strictly Come Dancing for Best Reality programme.
But the Geordie pals’ hit show Saturday Night Takeaway was named Best Entertainment show ahead of Gogglebox. Eamonn Holmes and Stephen Mulhern pretended to be the Georgie duo when accepting the gong for them.
Speaking via a video message, Ant and Dec, both 41, said they were too busy filming to attend. Dec added: “Sorry we can’t be there, but we are up to our eyes in Saturday Night Takeaway.”
EastEnders beat Coronation Street and Emmerdale to take the Best Soap title.
Kym Marsh ensured the travelling Corrie crew, including Tina O’Brien, had some joy by winning Soap Personality of the Year.
Netflix period drama The Crown fought off Amazon’s Grand Tour and House Of Cards to win Original OTT streamed show, while Death In Paradise won Crime Show of the Year.
Carol Kirkwood was Best Weather Presenter, Poldark took HD Drama programme, and EastEnders’ 90-year-old star June Brown won TRIC’s special award.
