CURTIS DAVIES

-

®Êby JASON MELLOR my team. We know we’re in for a tough game against him.

“We did well against Everton at home earlier in the season but just weren’t able to hold on for the win.”

Davies had mixed feelings recently after drafting Josh King into his fantasy line-up with the Bournemouth striker bagging a hat-trick in a 3-2 win over West Ham.

“I had probably my best week of the season because I put Josh in and he went on to score a hat-trick for me,” he said.

“It was great for my team, but I suppose not so good for Hull with Bournemouth pulling away from the bottom a bit.”

Davies had time to hone his makebelieve management skills during his recent hamstring injury lay-off.

But he is now hoping for an end-ofseason double – leading the Tigers to safety and showing his team-mates who is the boss.

He is actually one of the leading points scorers himself due to his high number of clearances, blocks and interceptions.

Not that he would ever dare pick himself or any of his Hull team-mates, for fear of jinxing them.

“I’ve had a bit more time to focus on it with my injury and I guess it’s up to the others to catch me because I’m sitting pretty and cruising at the moment,” he said.

“I’d never put me in my own fantasy team because I’m sure I’d soon come a cropper. It’s just a bit of fun really. It’s something we do on Friday nights in hotels or on the way to matches.

“We’ll sit over dinner all sorting our teams, trying to double bluff the other lads as to which players we’ll pick and when to use a wild card.

Joked

“Andy Robertson is about 70 points behind me and Ryan Mason is creeping up as well so Andy has got to watch his back.

“I’ve joked with Andy that I’ll just pick exactly the same team he does now for the rest of the season so he can’t overtake me and that way I’ll win.”

Will Keane is the butt of the squad’s jokes as the injured striker is propping up the Tigers’ ultra-competitive minileague. Davies added: “I think Will is heading for the wooden spoon.

“He keeps claiming he’s not looked at his side for ages but they always say that when they’re bottom!”
