BALLS’ GANGNAM REPRISE

® ED Balls is preparing to reprise his unforgettable Gangnam Style dance one last time for Red Nose Day.

The ex-Labour shadow chancellor will take to the stage to show off the gyrating dance moves he learned while taking part in last year’s Strictly Come Dancing.

Balls, 50, made headlines when he and his pro dance partner Katya Jones performed a pelvic-thrusting salsa to the international hit.

Speaking ahead of his Red Nose Day performance, he said: “I am going down to the O2 as we are going to film the opening dance song number for Comic Relief on Friday night. “I am going to be with all these celebrities and stars and comedians and think I’ll be giving them a bit of Gangnam Style. They asked for my blue suit to be dry cleaned so I am thinking maybe a bit of Gangnam is coming!” Balls’s Gangnam Style stint with Katya was praised by fans and even by BBC director-general Lord Hall. Balls also joked how he dealt with the fallout from Donald Trump’s US election. He told Radio Times: “The day after Trump was elected my children went to school asking: ‘How could this have happened?’ And I went to do the salsa in a studio.”

Meanwhile, DJ Sara Cox has staged a 24-hour dance-a-thon to raise money. She threw some serious shapes for the ’80s-themed challenge without a break.

She was cheered on by a line-up of celebrity pals, including Balls.

Cox’s dance-a-thon kicked off at 9.30am yesterday and she was set to complete it at 9.30am today.

Tune in to Comic Relief on BBC One on Friday at 7pm.
