MEADOW TO MAKE HAY

- By SIMON BANKS

SKY cameras will be at Towcester tomorrow for the big Trainers’ Championship meeting.

The country’s top trainers will be competing against each for the trophy that Kevin Hutton has won for the last two years.

It is being held at the new venue for the Greyhound Derby next June and trainers are using the meeting as an opportunity to acquaint their Derby hopefuls with the Northamptonshire circuit.

Ante-post Derby favourite Bubbly Bluebird renews battle with the GBGB 2016 Greyhound of the Year DROOPYS BUICK (9.08). The pair ® last met in the final of the Betfred Eclipse in November, with Buick beating Bluebird by just over four lengths and it there could be good value on betting that Buick prevails again.

John Mullins’ best chance of scoring maximum points probably rests with MEADOW (8.51) in the stayers’ race. Meadow has won at the last two Sky meetings at big prices.

Richard Baker’s HOLLYWOOD HERO (11.48) can land a hat-trick as he continues to rampage through the grades at Hall Green.

Since landing a lowly A8 in December last year, he has found more than a second and if he continues to improve this rapidly he should have no trouble winning this morning’s A8.

CABRA JOKER (12.04) can open his British account with his first win since arriving from Ireland in January if he can get to the first bend ahead of Please Me.

Having won 16 graded races at Nottingham, TYNWALD KEPPER (8.19) certainly knows his way around Colwick Park and can make that local knowledge pay to help him land his first Open race tonight. Ideally drawn on the rails, Terry Munslow’s dog can lead all the way.

There is no reason to oppose LAUGHING GRAVY (9.07) who made short work of last week’s field in the qualifier for tonight’s final.
