CORRIE TACKLE THE INTERNET HATERS BY THROWING BROOKE AT THEM

-

CORRIE babe Helen Flanagan is the centre of attention at her footballer fella’s party.

The 26-year-old joined Scott Sinclair for his 28th birthday bash at Dubai’s Grosvenor House.

CORRIE beauty Brooke Vincent can’t wait to turn detective e in a battle to tackle internet trolls. The 24year-old actress reveals her character Sophie Webster up with on-screen ie (Helen Flanagan) to ho has been terroris reet from behind their screen. says she’s not afraid to herself – or Helen – in . This week we see their mother, local councillor Sally Metcalfe, has been receiving hate messages online.

Sinister

It takes a further sinister turn when the online stalker then makes a call supposedly from the hospital, delivering the devastating news that Sally's cancer has returned. "Trolling online is a really relevant omething so many people ey shouldn’t have to put says Brooke. k we see the troll ring up to be from the hospital lly her cancer is back, when in fact it isn’t. "Suddenly Sophie and Rosie come running in because they’ve seen it Councillor Metcalfe has cancer. "Its all part of the troll’s plan to attack Sally and she finally admits to Sophie and Rosie what’s been going on.

“After that a Death Notice goes into the Weatherfield Gazette and we decide enough is enough. So we turn detective to try and find out who has been terrorising her.”

Brooke, a Corrie regular since she was just 11, recently returned to the soap after a six-month break. And she says she was thrilled to bring her on-screen sister and real-life best pal Helen back with her.

“Coming back to Corrie was like coming home,” she says. “But what made it all the more special was that Helen came back with me.

“She’s a brilliant personality to have on set and what was good was that we still work well together on screen. We grew up together like sisters and we’re like a funny double act. We make each other laugh.

“When Helen is around I always have a smile on my face.”

Helen left the show fours years ago and went on to appear on I’m A Celebrity in 2012 before becoming a mum to baby Matilda, now 18 months, with her boyfriend, Celtic winger Scott Sinclair. Reviews of Helen’s return have been mixed.

While many have praised the show for introducing ditzy air-head glamour model Rosie as a comedy element to balance out the soap’s serious storylines, others have criticised her acting ability. But Brooke hit back in defence of her close friend.

Nasty

She says: “I absolutely take my hat off to Helen. Take away the fact that she’s grown up on screen on Corrie, she’s also a young mum who has come back to work after having a baby and you do lose confidence.

“She’s learning how to juggle it all whilst having a partner who works away. I just think that to a certain extent it doesn’t even matter what a few people have to say about her coming back. She’s already got the job, she’s here and everyone on the show is really pleased with her.

“It’s only a very few nasty people saying things and it’s none of their business. I love her to bits. I love all the pink and the glamour she brings on set every day. The whole window cleaning storyline has been hilarious for us both, even if she says she’s hated it. I know we’ve had a lot of laughs.”

In fact Brooke, in real life, appears similar to her character Sophie when it comes to sticking up for her friends and family.

“One of the things I like best about Sophie is that she’s a real campaigner and she will always fight for what’s right – as will I,” she says.

“So in the storyline, of course she wants to play detective to protect her mum. But typically with Rosie there are a few Legally Blonde-style moments which make me laugh.

“There’s a brilliant scene where the pair of them storm into the newspaper offices of the Weatherfield Gazette to get the address of the person who posted the death notice.

“It’s all very funny and there’s definitely a comedy element to it despite it being a serious storyline. We do end up finding out and Rosie and Sophie go all out to confront the person. It’s not someone on The Street though, but I won’t spoil it by saying any more.”

Brooke, who is dating Manchester City footballer Kean Bryan, admits she’s in a good place in her life.

Kean is currently on loan at Bury FC and was spotted out with Brooke this week.

But the actress remains fiercely private of her personal life.

“I have learned not to talk about that side of my life,” she says. But she admits she’s “very happy at the moment”.
