Hattaboy Cal!

DJ GOES ALL JAMIROQUAI

-

CALVIN Harris is ready to be Acceptable In The 80s all over again.

The big Scot has an album’s worth of new 80s funk-style tracks that channel Jamiroquai at his best. The DJ’s Swedish pal Alesso revealed Calvin is changing his sound to inject a little variety to the charts. Alesso told me: “Calvin knows we need fresh stuff. “I saw him a couple of weeks ago in LA. He played some of his new songs and they were amazing. He’s not letting anyone put him in the corner. “Right now, people need to be brave and stop following the trends. All the demos I’m getting sound like Major Lazor or Kygo. “He’s still doing dance but he has a lot of old school disco/funk going on. There’s no drop in his songs, which is brave.”

Alesso was in Miami for Ultra Music Festival, where he debuted some of his new tracks including Falling.

He also partied with Louis Tomlinson and there could be some music from the pair. Alesso let slip: “Of course I’d work with the 1D boys if it was right.

“Let’s say I have been in touch with someone but it’s not someone I can name yet...”

Alesso’s single Falling is set to become one of the big club hits of the summer. Talking about the anthem he said: “It’s fresh. “I had the chorus recorded on my phone and then my friend came over to finish it and she ended up singing on the song.” “My video has a cool 80s vibe too.” Like the rest of us, the DJ is infatuated with a Canadian chap. He said: “I’m in love with the new Drake album. He took that step to work more in dance music and it’s so brave... he nailed it. “It’s the future I think. Whether you like it or not, electronic music is the future.” Catch the man at Creamfields later this year.
