Ladders spark a danger warning
A MAJOR safety alert was issued to Britain’s army of DIY enthusiasts yesterday amid fears they could be injured because of a fault with a type of ladder.
It comes after over 32,000 dangerous sets of telescopic ladders were withdrawn from sale.
Probes by Derbyshire County Council trading standards team into the safety of the ladders revealed major concerns and led to a governmentfunded investigation.
Telescopic ladders have become increasingly popular in recent years because they fold away and can be easily stored.
However, their pyramidstyle operation can require up to 32 locking mechanisms and just one faulty part can lead to the ladder collapsing and causing injury.
